This creepy little number was written about a combinations of events.

A mass murder in a small village in Brittany, when a Father who had his four children for the weekend decided that rather than let then go back to their mother and step father who he believed was abusing them, slit their throats as they slept, then hung himself.

Finding a pamphlet from the salvation army, in my guitar case after busking, informing me that I was eternally dammed. Eve's fault.

My general contempt for the Christian philosophy of suffer now and it will all be good when you die. A model on which much of the UK music scene seems to be abasing itself.

Disgust at the scandals in the Irish church, and British government, where people used the trust placed in them to abuse children.

and the realization that when an apple goes bad, it ain't never gonna be a shiny red apple again, it needs to be left to rot that it's seeds may grow.
